Victorian Local Governance Association Board Elections 2017

Nomination for VLGA Ordinary Board Member (Councillor)

The Local Government sector faces many challenges. Rate-capping adds constraints at a time when increased population and development is putting pressure on our existing resources. The VLGA must fight for more support from the State Government and show strong leadership during the review of the Local Government Act.

Councillors have increased responsibility and accountability and appropriate training is vital, particularly when newly elected. The VLGA must also provide ongoing support for Councillors experiencing difficulties.

VLGA must focus on Affordable Housing, Diversity, Equality, Gambling Reform, Transport and the Environment.

I have been a Whitehorse Councillor for nearly 14 years (twice Mayor). I am currently Chair of the Eastern Affordable Housing Alliance and the Whitehorse Manningham Regional Library. I served on the Ministerial Advisory Council for Libraries for 2 terms.

I have the experience, skills and passion to bring to the Board and ask for your vote.
