The Community and Social Planners Network (CASPN) is a professional interest group of local government staff members who have a responsibility for community/social planning and development.

Aims of CASPN

With regard to community/social planning and development issues, CASPN seeks to:

Share information
Identify and discuss critical issues and trends affecting our communities
Co-ordinate policy development and planning between local governments
Initiate professional development opportunities
Raise community awareness
Develop a position on issues of common interest and have an advocacy role in this regard
Identify best practice examples which work to improve outcomes for local communities
Promote principles of Integrated Local Area Planning
Promote social planning and community development

Membership

With a growing membership, CASPN links community and social planners from around 50 local governments. The Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) and the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) are associate members. The VLGA maintains the membership mailing list and anyone can register to become a part of this emailing network. Being added to this list will keep you in the loop on any CASPN related events and information. Current Activity

The CASP Network shares information and ideas between its members from many Victorian local governments to identify common issues across local governments and promote best practice in the field of community development and social planning.

The VLGA continues to manage the CASPN email list and distributes information between CASPN members. If you have any information that you think would be beneficial to CASPN members, please contact our Member Resources Officer on the details below. Please note, information contributed will undergo an approval process before being distributed.
