Media Release: Green Space a Win for Residents & Councils November 2018

GREEN SPACE A WIN FOR RESIDENTS AND COUNCILS

The VLGA welcomes the Victorian Labor's commitment to create 6500 hectares of green space and investment in additional walking and bike paths to our growing suburbs.

Councils, through their Public Health and Wellbeing plans, provide a pivotal role in addressing chronic health issues facing our community such as inactivity and obesity. By partnering with the state government, councils can deliver much needed open space for recreation and leisure.

Our growing suburbs require ongoing investment in community infrastructure such as green open space. They also require investment in public transport, health and community services such as schools.

The VLGA looks forward to working with the next government in improving the health, wellbeing and livability of our suburbs.
