Commenced in 2008, the aim of this project was to:
- Bring state and local government together with a view to developing more sustainable transport projects and initiatives
- Provide the tools to keep local government fully informed and up to date
The project intent was to deliver on these aims by:
- Keeping local government up to date and fully informed
- Staying across projects, initiatives and opportunities at state government and local government level and sharing this information across the sector
- Keeping up to date with trends within the transport industry and sharing this information across the sector
- Creating networks to strengthen connections and leverage local knowledge and best practice ideas
- Providing a voice for the sector on key public transport reference groups
The project provided many benefits to local government, not least that having access to a one-stop shop information hub enables local government to be kept up to date with what’s happening and thereby promote good governance and better community engagement.

The VLGA would like to acknowledge and thank the Department of Transport for providing the funding to enable delivery of the transport project.
