Working and Advisory Groups provide advice to the Board on policy initiatives and potential action on issues. While they operate semi-autonomously, they have no authority beyond that granted by the Board and all actions and behaviours must be consistent with adopted policy as well as our Vision, Mission and Values.
Working and Advisory Groups benefit the board and administration by:
-
Spreading the workload
-
Engaging a wider cross-section of possible views and energies
-
Strengthening the internal democratic governance of the VLGA
Overview of Working and Advisory Group Membership:
- There should be a good mix of current local government councillors, officers, individual and community members.
