Goulburn - Local Government 101

A free workshop for women considering running for local government.

Open to all women in the Goulburn Region (Moira, Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, Mitchell and Murrindindi).

What do councils do? What is the role of a councillor? How do I become a candidate and how do I get elected?

If you have ever asked yourself these questions, or if you need to know more before you take the leap and decide to run, this free and informative workshop is for you. Women across the state - just like you - have a significant contribution to make to public life. Your connections to community, your skills and your unique perspective mean you are rich with potential to be a great local councillor.

The VLGA and Greater Shepparton City Council are also holding a Victorian Local Government Women's Charter Afternoon Tea from 3:00pm - 4:00pm on Monday 18 November. This is a great opportunity to network with local women, including women councillors and prospective candidate in the Goulburn region, and discuss how the Women's Charter supports the progress of gender equity, diversity and active participation in your council.

Click here for the flyer. To register your interest in attending the afternoon tea, please email deborah@vlga.org.au.
