VLGA x Scanlon Foundation LIVE PANEL: A Seat at the Table
Diverse communities deserve diverse representation.
Local government is considered to be the level of government ‘closest to the people’. Local governments across Victoria should reflect the communities that they seek to represent, but the makeup of elected councillors is not always representative of the communities they serve.
We are holding this session to help elevate the voices of young people from emerging communities to reach their full potential as leaders - by increasing community capacity, confidence and awareness to enable culturally and linguistically diverse leaders to run for local government and get elected.
Panel:
- Ahmed Dini
- Titan Debirioun
- Kasuni Mendis
- Mehak Sheikh
Moderators:
- Deborah Wu (VLGA)
- Faysal Farah (Scanlon Foundation)
The panel will be held via Zoom (details will be sent out two days prior to the event).
Please note that this event is reserved for people who belong to emerging/migrant/culturally and linguistically diverse communities. It will be led for and by people from these communities.
