The Victorian Local Governance Association (VLGA) supports councils and elected representatives to deliver positive outcomes for their local communities through high performance leadership and effective governance.
This is your chance to work with a well-established Association, with a clear focus on delivering member value and an ambitious strategic plan on the horizon.
Nominating as a Candidate
In accordance with clause 31 of the VLGA’s Constitution, the two elected board members will hold office for three years subject to the provisions of this clause.
The term of the two councillors elected in 2022 will expire on 30 June 2025 and therefore will be deemed vacant for the purposes of this election. Councillors from all VLGA member councils* are eligible to nominate for election to the VLGA board.

- Tuesday 13 May 2025 - nominations open
- Thursday 29 May 2025 (5:00pm) - nominations close
- Thursday 5 June (12:01am) until Thursday 19 June (5:00pm) 2025 – Electronic Voting Ballot – A secret ballot will be conducted online
- Friday 20 June 2025 – The Returning Officer declares candidates elected
- Tuesday 1 July 2025 – The elected board members' appointment commences.
*Please note, a council must be a VLGA member by midday on the 22 May 2025 in order for a councillor at the council to be eligible to nominate.
